Family and Human Services (FHS) 2400 Marriage and Family Relationships

My time in Marriage and Family Relationships (FHS 2400) has been valuable. The signature assignments I have chosen to showcase here are Teen Pregnancy, Positive Comments, and Handling Money. I have chosen these assignments because they reflect the broad topics we discussed in class and they were the most eye opening for me this semester.

I took this class as an elective to help strengthen my marriage. I was widowed at 26 with 4 kids and I am now remarried. I knew the odds were stacked against me and I figured I could use all the help I could get. Working through the assignments in class and working through the materials has not only helped me know what part I can play to have a strong marriage but what model I can set for my children for their future marriages as well.

The positive comments paper was my favorite. What an eye opening experience! I knew everyone has conflict in one form or another but I had no idea just how much I contributed to the conflict I’ve had with my husband. Let me just say I know that man loves me after this assignment! We all say as we age “I wish I knew then what I know now” Wow, note to children, I can now give you better advice than I’d have given myself back then so watch out. Hopefully they listen ha-ha, with that said I hope you enjoy reading these essays as much as I enjoyed writing them!
